
Our parish provides several opportunities for faith formation within small group settings. These settings include Bible Studies, Faith Sharing, and Topical Studies. For a detailed list click here.
The RCIA is a process by which adults (candidates) are prepared for entry into the Catholic Church. Volunteers are needed to serve as team members or sponsors. Team members assist the RCIA Director in implementing the process. Sponsors assist the candidate as a friend, companion or mentor.
TIME COMMITMENT: Weekly on Tuesday evenings Sept-May, with some flexibility.
Almost every year there are a few school age children beyond the 2nd grade who have not received the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation or Eucharist. Training is available for volunteers who would like to help us prepare these children for the sacraments.
Our parish provides a weekly Wednesday evening religious education program for children ages four to Grade 5. This program teaches the basics of Catholic faith and supplements faith formation in the home. Volunteers receive supervision, training, and materials.
TIME COMMITMENT: September-April, 6:45 - 8:00 pm Wednesdays.
Religious education at OLPH strives to nurture young and older adolescents' faith development and Catholic identity. Volunteers are needed to help teach sessions throughout the months of September - April.
Adult education is planned and implemented by the parish Adult Catechetical Team (ACT). The ACT sponsors a variety of learning activities: Bible study, Catechism courses, small group and Large group presentations, etc.
TIME COMMITMENT: Monthly meetings.
This occurs during the first half of our late Sunday morning Mass. Volunteers are needed to lead children in prayer, song and reflection of the Sunday readings. Materials and training are provided.
TIME COMMITMENT: Team rotation every 4-6 weeks, September - May.
Vacation Bible School is the ecumenical effort of local area churches. It runs for a week in June and is held in the evenings. Children gather for arts, crafts, bible stories, songs, snacks and much more. Adult and teen volunteers are needed to be storytellers, artisans, musicians and guides for the children.
